What is your story as a person?

Dr. Losambe- I came from a family who taught me to keep God at the center. They emphasized education, love for family, and embracing the richness of our culture and heritage. From childhood to now, I have had the opportunity to live out my passions for God, participate in sports at the collegiate level, and invest in the next generation. As an adult, I strive to be a good husband, a present father, and a man who lives a life worthy of my calling.

Crystal Losambe- I came from a loving family with parents who shared the love of God with me and my siblings, taught us how to love others, and inspired us to strive for excellence. Though I always tried to do things the right way, I learned in adulthood that achievement and perfection does not make one exempt from difficulties or suffering. I have experienced disappointment and setbacks in life, but I have learned that God uses the trials I face to increase my faith leading to perseverance (James 1:2-3). I wanted to give up many times, but in the end, God has always come through for me. My hope is that I will walk in the purpose God has for me with strong faith, leave a legacy of hope, faith, and love for my children, and live a life that will positively impact others.

What is the main story you want to share with the world through your book?

We strive to educate and empower others to cultivate a culture of compassion, empathy, and belonging. Additionally, this book will inform the reader of how the need to belong is incorporated in our biology as human beings. We hope this book educates individuals on how the brain influences our beliefs and actions, and helps individuals and organizations change negative thought processes and become more empathetic towards others. At the core our being, we all have the same needs, including the need to belong. When we view each other from the basis of our shared humanity (common needs and desires), we realize that we are more alike than we are different. However, when society or an organization embraces people’s differences, they are able to increase their productivity, inspire change, and maximize the potential in others. We want the reader to understand that diversity is not a problem to be solved but an asset to be gained by an organization, community, or society. Furthermore, we hope this book will provide tools that will help people create a culture of inclusivity with open and honest dialogue.

If you had an opportunity to share just ONE message with the WHOLE WORLD, what would it be?

We can accomplish more when we are unified than when we are divided.

What does family mean to you? Tell us about your family.

Family is a community where one can be one’s self without fear of rejection or isolation. It is a place of acceptance and unconditional love. We have two intelligent and beautiful children who teach us every day what it means to love and accept others unconditionally.
