Passionate Christianity: Reclaiming your first love
“In Passionate Christianity, Susan Ellis stands with the great revivalist John Wesley, in reminding us that true renewal is only found in returning to that which is old; in passionately pursuing the timeless rather than being distracted by the temporal; in setting aside the fashionable and humbly submitting to the eternal Word of God.” – Everett Piper, PhD. President, Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
While spiritual complacency leading to apathy may not be unique to modern Christianity, it is viewed in Scripture as a serious problem that must be addressed in every generation. Matthew spoke of this spiritual lethargy in his gospel account. Paul warned about a great falling away in his second letter to the Thessalonians. Jesus cautioned believers against the dangers of indifference in His letters to the seven churches. Even a cursory look at the history of Israel reveals the cycle of returning and living for God, only to fall away again. This lesson series addresses this important issue in a way that helps believers reclaim their ‘first love’ for Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. The study is practical, uplifting, and rooted in Scripture.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT PASSIONATE CHRISTIANITY
- Within these pages, Susan thoroughly emphasizes the importance of being a passionate Christian. In a day where hearts lie in things that are contrary to Scripture, Susan brings us back to the important aspects of the Christian walk through an exegesis. This is a great tool for small groups and personal studies alike. – Mark Berry, Ed.D. Alabama South District Superintendent, Church of the Nazarene
- My dear friend, Susan Ellis, has done an excellent job allowing the Holy Spirit to lead her in preparing Passionate Christianity. This Bible study will delve into the darkest corners of the heart of the believer and clean out the cobwebs that try to entangle and entrap us all in our walk with Christ. Susan holds no punches back in her study while simultaneously allowing God to lovingly point the believer to the cross. The thought provoking questions are real and to the point. The study is biblically based and theologically on point. Not only would I recommend this study, but I plan to use it with my own congregation. – Rev. Krystal G. Scott, Lead Pastor, The Mount Church of the Nazarene
- I have reviewed Susan Ellis’ Passionate Christianity. I have found it to be well written, topics to be very appropriate for the church today, well laid out with good commentary and application for the facilitator and student, and appropriate use of scripture within context. I would recommend this book to the church community as a whole. – Thom Cahill, Missionary and Educator, Free Methodist World Missions, Kenya
- I encourage you to begin this journey towards Passionate Christianity as it has the power to unleash the word, works, and purpose of Christ in your life. It will elevate your walk with Christ, so you may achieve “the abundant life” Jesus spoke of in John 10:10, right now! – Matt Hinson, Division Director, Marketplace Chaplains USA
